August 1, 2017 – Athol Murray College of Notre Dame has announced “For the Love of the Game”, a dinner event for those who play to have fun. The dinner will take place on September 26, 2017 at 6:30pm at Prairieland Park (530 Ruth Street W, Saskatoon) and will feature NHL coach Rod Brind’Amour, Olympian Terry O’Malley and Olympian Barry MacKenzie as well as additional sports celebrities to be announced at a later date.
The dinner will feature a panel discussion focusing on how each of the panelists were driven to compete at their highest level of sport and give back to it as their careers progressed.
Rod Brind’Amour is a 22 year veteran of the NHL and current Assistant Coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. In 2006, he captained the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup Championship. Rod is an alumni of Notre Dame. In 1988, he captained the Notre Dame Junior A Hounds to the Centennial Cup (now RBC Cup) in the team’s inaugural season in the SJHL.

This event will inspire the passion of why every athlete begins to play sports as a kid … to have fun! With the pressures and politics now built into amateur sports by parents, coaches and managers, this event will begin to pave a new path for sport across Canada at all levels.
