Jon Cooper ‘85 Head Coached Team Canada to a 4 Nations Face-off Championship on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The tournament was an exhibit of high-level hockey and even higher stakes. Big games and high stakes are nothing new to Cooper who has coached his was to two Stanley Cup Championships with the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, this series was unlike any other. It was a display of intense and passionate hockey between Canada and USA, the biggest rivalry in the sport. With Cooper’s leadership, crucial line adjustments and belief in his guys, Canada found victory 8:18 into overtime. Connor McDavid scored the golden goal igniting cheers that echoed across the nation.

WATCH:
The Notre Dame Family is incredibly proud of Coach Cooper and is excited to cheer him and Team Canada on in the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy where Cooper will also be representing Canada as the Head Coach of the Olympic National Team.
