Celebrating Père's Birthday - Video Launch

January 9th, marks the anniversary of Père's birthday. He was born in Toronto in 1892 and was a man who believed passionately in Canada, freedom, the importance of the individual and the primacy of the spiritual. The College has been gathering video footage over the last couple of years and launched the Père Murray Legacy Channel on YouTube last year. 

 

To celebrate Père's birthday this year, a new video series has been launched on the YouTube channel called Père's People. The first video in this new playlist features Père and friend of the College, Mr. Fred Hill.

Finally, some thoughts from Père himself. The following was taken from the book titled Père - a Père Murray Compendium.

That Notre Dame, under the guidance of Almighty God, may serve, in the generations to come, the highest interests of mankind by drawing into a common fellowship the members of the faculty and the student body and by gathering into a true society the teacher and the student, the graduate and the under-graduate; further, that the members of Notre Dame may discover within its walls the true education that is to be found in good fellowship, in friendly disputation and debate, in the conversation of wise and prudent men and women, in music, pictures and the play, in the casual book, in sports and games and the mastery of the body, and lastly, that Notre Dame may be dedicated to the task of arming youth with strength and suppleness of limb, with clarity of mind and depth of understanding, and with a spirit of true religion and high endeavor.
