Notables
- A decorated soldier of the Canadian Forces awarded the South-West Asia Service Medal with the Afghanistan Bar, the General Campaign Star Southwest Asia, and the Sacrifice Medal (posthumously).
- Was a paratrooper with the Edmonton-based 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry
- Killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan in July 2007 along with five other Canadian soldiers and an Afghan interpreter.
- At the time of his death, Jordan was 2 credits short of obtaining his degree, Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Political Studies and history, from the University of Manitoba. After his death, his friend’s petitioned the University to grant Jordan’s degree – he was the first Canadian soldier since the Korean War to receive his degree posthumously. There is a bursary at U of M in his memory, “On the Ramp Cpl Jordan Anderson Bursary”, that is given out to serving or retired members of the CAF and cadets to help further their education.
- Corporal Jordan Anderson “Heart of the Hound” Notre Dame Football Award is named annually to the senior football player who best exemplifies commitment and dedication to his team, through leadership, loyalty, sacrifice, unselfishness and inspirational play.
