- Former Queens Bench Judge, 32 Years on the Bench.
- Appointed on Oct. 13, 1981, just before the Charter of Rights, he had a chance to help chart its course, rendering a precedent-making decision on expanded rights eventually upheld by the Supreme Court.
- Only one of the 11 appeals taken from his decisions in civil cases was ever reversed by Canada’s top court.
