Notre Dame Hires Elite Basketball Coordinator and Coach

Welcome to the Hound Family, Marc Ffrench and yes, it is spelled with two Ff's.

Marc brings a wealth of experience, primarily in the elite High School / Prep basketball world, to the role of Basketball Coordinator at Notre Dame. Prior to spending the last two years building the Atlantic Academy Windjammer program in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Marc spent 4 years as the Director of Basketball and Head Coach of the Girls Prep Basketball Program at King's-Edgehill School in Nova Scotia. Marc has spent extensive time coaching on the elite spring / summer American circuit Girls Rise Under Armour Association with the Canada Elite based out of Ontario. In 2020, Marc was selected as the Basketball Nova Scotia 16U Girls Head Coach, prior to the season being postponed due to the global pandemic. Before his time in Nova Scotia, Marc was the Head Coach of a very successful High School program at AY Jackson in Ottawa, and has spent time coaching throughout the United States. Marc's keen eye for player evaluation is also important as he has held a role with the Mount Royal University Cougars Women's Basketball program in Canada West / USport as a player scout and recruiter since 2022.

Over Marc's approximately 30 years of coaching, he has gained experience as both head and assistant coach working with players from across Canada and Internationally, and has contributed to the development of several players who have gone on to play at the NCAA or USport levels. “I believe that we as coaches should focus on elite level development of the student athlete, and winning games is a by-product of each player improving daily, contributing to their team, and, but even more important, becoming good people as well.”

"I would like to thank Principal Stephane Gauvin, Director of High School Programs Bob Baumuller, and the entire Board of Athol Murray College of Notre Dame for selecting me to build an impactful and nationally relevant basketball program for both boys and girls, along with the opportunity to continue to coach on an elite girls level. Basketball in Saskatchewan and the West overall is at a great place, and Notre Dame will be a great destination for some incredible basketball student athletes to continue the Hounds athletic tradition that has been built through its world famous Hockey programs. It's always a great day to be able to say 'Never Lose Heart Hounds."
